16 months and Mama's Lil' Helper!

Braden turned 16 months old last Saturday. I am slow in posting as of lately, I usually post it on the actual day! He has grown into quite the helper (most days- ha!) He doesn't allow me to Swiffer or vaccum the floors without his help. He helps unload the groceries, he helps throw laundry in the washer and he can sometimes be helpful in putting his toys away (not always).

What else is Braden up to at 16 months? He is saying more words like more and cheese. (or close enough to the real word.) He understands way more than I ever thought he would at this age, which is nice. For example, if I say it's time to go upstairs to your room for bed or to change your diaper he will go stand at the stairs. Or if we say it's bath time he drops everything and runs to the bath. If you tell him to put an item or toy a certain place he will do exactly what you say. He loves exploring, if I set him down anywhere he will take off and just roam and go up to people and say hi (scary at times). He loves being outside even on the coldest of days- I come inside and he wants to walk around the sidewalks of our townhome. He also graduated to the official toddler room at the YMCA and is loving it. No more screaming babies to make him upset and he has so many more new toys and kids to play with, along with trips to the gym to go down the slides and throw balls around. Oh what fun.

He also is a very funny little guy. He laughs most of the day. He will put goggles on and walk around the house. He will rip his socks off while he is eating and bust out laughing. He will put pieces of food on his head to be funny. He squeals with excitement when he sees something fascinating or cool.

Braden also is a lovable kid which I hope stays around a while. :) He gives hugs, smooches and even likes to sit on my lap while watching his morning cartoon before breakfast. We will see how long that lasts, but for now we are enjoying it and enjoying everything about this fun age!

New Home!

I have been dreaming of a new home for a couple of years now and my dream is coming true! Here is a sneak peak of what will be our new home in just less than one month from now.

As my last post explains, the past few months have been "interesting" as we went through some real estate ups and downs. But even with the rough patches, we are very happy with how things turned out.

I am excited to have more space for Braden most of all. (Well, and for myself since I would be lying if I said I wasn't feeling cramped in the townhome - ESPECIALLY this winter...ugggg) I am also excited about the kitchen, that is why I chose to post that picture above. It will also be so nice to be close to some family, be in a young neighborhood with other children (and possibly stay-at-home moms), to have a yard (what is that even like?) and have all the ammenities close by like parks, trails, a community pool, etc.... Joe will be able to take the bus to work, even though the commute will be longer. I will be able to teach classes still. There will be a SuperTarget to shop at and an elementary school in walking distance just a couple of blocks away. We are thrilled and it really can't come sooner.

If I am not able to update my blog super often in the next month- you know why. I'll be packing! I better start now, but I am not sure where to begin!?!

Packin' Up....

Braden in his backback is a foreshadow of what is to come! We have renters starting in our townhome come March 1. It has been quite the week for us. Monday we learned that the short-sale we were in the process of buying fell through. They agreed to our terms, but the bank and the seller could not come to an agreement. So, the following day we went out house hunting all over again. We liked three places. One got an offer the very night we went looking and we decided not to add ours into the mix. Then another one wasn't going to be ready in time for us to close before our renters move in (we found out it sold in the meantime anyway.) So, we were left with one last house that we liked. We put an offer on it Thursday and for the past two days we have been negotiating. It is in the same neighborhood as the house that fell through, so we feel like it's meant to be. Anyway, we went to look at it again tonight since we were in the area and confirmed that we really like it over some others that are out there right now. So, we put in our final negotation tonight and we are just waiting to see if they accept. I guess if they don't we will have to find temperary housing until we find something else!

This week has had some ups and downs that's for sure! I took things in stride the first two days and then I got a little stresed out towards the end of the week. Braden has been a trooper- being thrown in the car and taken places, having a few babysitters, staying up late while we looked at 6 houses in just 2 1/2 hours, etc... so, I hope he is the same trooper while we move!

We will keep you posted but we hopefully will be packing up soon and heading to a new home come mid/late February!

Hmmm...Future QB on our hands?

Now I can truly see Joe's coaching skills paying off (he probably began the lessons when Braden was a week old ha)! Or should I say, now I know what the boys are up to whenever Mom is out of the house...throwing footballs!

I know the St. Patty Day or Mardi Gras beads are the perfect touch to any future quarterback!
